What is a Landoll? It is a manufacture that created its own trailer type.
Traditionally speaking it is a tilt deck trailer. There are several variations but the one they are most well known for is this one. The front is hydraulically raised pitching the rear end to the ground, to make a long loading ramp out of the deck.
The newer variations also incorporated a traveling axle feature that allows the axles of the trailer to move forward allowing the deck angle to be less than the traditional models.
Another feature on some of these units is a hydraulically assisted winch that pull the load onto the trailer.
Landoll’s are known for there quality, durability, speed of loading, and that they are much heavier than a traditional style trailer. This reduces the total amount of freight the truck-trailer combo can handle
Long haul truckers typically do not use this trailer because of its weight. They would rather load a Step Deck that takes a more time and effort to set up the portable ramps than to give up the capacity. The reason why I am comparing this to a step deck trailer is the deck height is similar on some low-profile models.
I find these in or around big cities hauling small equipment close by. The reason being is they are quick, and easy to load, and unload almost anywhere you can stop the truck long enough to do it.
I have had more than one of these trailers work for me in the past, they have their place when you are moving a job site 20 miles away. Speed is the name of the game for most clients that need their equipment on site.
