Trucking is dangerous

The Scat Pack Challenger was rented to drive all the way to Virginia for a late season truck show this time last year, for a bit of fun.
The drive reminded me of just how dangerous the trucking profession can be.
It was around 10 pm on a Wednesday east of Des Moines, IA on I 80 after a long day of booking trucks. I was running the Challenger around 75 mph down the interstate minding my own business. I had been shadowing another car running around the speed limit, he all the sudden hit his brakes and swerved to the right so fast I saw the side of the car. I had been a little distance behind, and Scat Pack cars not only turn well they stop like you threw a ten ton anchor out the window. I managed to get slowed down and off the road a bit by the time a car passed us going west on an east bound road.
It was at this time I reached for the hand set I take with me and tried to tell anyone that would listen we had a car going the wrong way down the interstate.
The sad fact is so few guys keep the CB on in the truck now to listen and hear about trouble up ahead. There was a time when it was considered cool to have a CB in your personal automobile too, but those days have since passed.
